The Owl Pays Witness

Haiku by Kevin O'Connor Artwork by Erin Jane O'Connor

Haiku demands a unique kind of attention-not just looking but seeing deeper, letting similes and analogies fill 7-5-7 syllable patterns to give the reader immeasurable pleasure in almost tasting the words. Kevin O'Connor has that attention.

In eighty-two poems, O'Connor sees a country woman's tassel-like hair, an oak tree rocking, a swan's boat of down-small glimmers that stop you and make you think, feel, and see.

Erin O'Connor's artwork gives each poem room to breathe, turning the book into moments you want to sit with for longer.

If you've ever loved haiku, or thought you didn't, this is a collection worth your time.

Witness what the owl sees.
